Car Detailing Cost on the Sunshine Coast: 2026 Price Guide

Most car detailing on the Sunshine Coast costs somewhere between a few dozen dollars for a single add-on and about $2,200 for a full protection package. The price depends on your vehicle’s size, its condition and how much paint or interior work it needs. Below are our published prices, what each package includes, what moves a quote up or down, how often to book and how to tell whether a detail is worth paying for.

TL;DR

  • Our published mobile packages run from $375 (Deluxe Detail, smaller vehicles) up to $2,200 (Ultimate Protection Package, larger vehicles). Add-ons start at $25 per seat.
  • Size, condition, paint finish and the type of protection (sealant, graphene or ceramic) set the final quote more than anything else.
  • Washing at least once a fortnight is the baseline. A full detail suits most Coast cars once or twice a year, and sooner after beach trips, pets or a long wet spell.
  • Paying for a detail makes most sense when you want a lasting result, such as a coating or paint correction, rather than a one-off tidy-up.

What car detailing costs on the Sunshine Coast

A wash and a detail are different jobs, and the price gap between them is why quotes look so scattered. A wash removes surface dirt. A detail cleans every surface, decontaminates the paint, treats the interior and, in the higher packages, adds protection that lasts months or years.

On the Coast the range is wide. Advertised starting prices for a basic inside-and-out clean sit at one end, and multi-stage paint correction with a ceramic coating sits at the other. Rather than guess at a market average, here is what we publish for our mobile service. All prices are in Australian dollars and cover the vehicle size range shown on each package page.

Service Published price What it is for
Deluxe Detail $375 to $575 A thorough inside-and-out detail for a car that is dirty but not neglected
Revival Detail $575 to $775 A deeper reset for a car that has had a hard few years
Graphene spray sealant package $339 to $739 Added gloss and water-beading protection without the cost of a full coating
“Holy Grail” detail $600 to $1,000 Our most complete detail for owners who want everything covered
Ultimate Protection Package $1,500 to $2,200 All-inclusive paint protection
Underbody wash $50 Salt and sand removal from underneath
Fabric Guard $25 per seat Stain protection for cloth seats
Leather ceramic coating $50 per seat Protection for leather against wear and UV

Cut and polish and ceramic coating are quoted individually because the work depends so heavily on the paint in front of us. We have no fixed price for them, and we would rather inspect the car than quote a number that turns out wrong.

What each price band actually buys

Published detailing package price ranges compared by tier

Under $100: add-ons and maintenance

At this level you are buying a single targeted job. A mobile underbody wash is $50 and removes the salt and sand that collect underneath after beach driving. Fabric Guard at $25 a seat or a leather ceramic coating at $50 a seat protects the surfaces your family touches most. These are best bought alongside a detail, because the seats are already clean and the technician is already on site.

$300 to $800: the full detail

This is where most owners land. Our Deluxe Detail ($375 to $575) and Revival Detail ($575 to $775) clean the interior thoroughly, including seat and carpet extraction where needed, and restore the exterior. The graphene spray sealant package ($339 to $739) adds a protective layer on top of a clean finish. If you want to see how a package is built and why it differs from a wash, our guide to what a detailing package includes goes through it.

$600 to $1,000: the complete detail

Our “Holy Grail” detail sits here. It is for the owner who wants the car to look as close to showroom as the paint allows, without committing to a multi-year coating. The full package page lists the inclusions.

$1,500 to $2,200: long-term protection

The Ultimate Protection Package is our all-inclusive option, with no hidden extras once the quote is agreed. You are paying for preparation and the protective layer, and preparation is most of the labour. For the thinking behind protection choices, see our paint protection guide for the Sunshine Coast.

What changes the price

We publish ranges because no two cars are the same. Our own pricing guide notes that pricing varies with vehicle size, condition, finish complexity and region. In practice, that breaks down like this.

Vehicle size. A hatchback and a seven-seat 4WD differ by hours of work. That is why each package has a range, not a single figure.

Interior condition. Pet hair, sand, spilled drinks and child-seat stains add extraction time. Odour problems may need ozone treatment on top.

Paint condition. Light swirl marks may need a single polishing stage. Heavy oxidation or scratches need more. Paint correction is the biggest variable in any quote, and our guide to paint correction stages explains how we test paint before we commit to a stage.

Type of protection. A spray sealant, a graphene product and a ceramic coating are different products with different prep and different lifespans. The ceramic coating guide for Sunshine Coast owners compares them in more depth.

Where the work happens. A mobile detailer brings the equipment to you, so you are not paying for a workshop. You do still need a shaded or sheltered spot and access to power and water, or the technician will talk you through the alternatives when you book.

Extras. Headlight restoration, PPF removal and odour treatment are separate jobs. If your headlights are yellowed, our headlight restoration page covers it.

A worked example: two Coast cars

These are illustrative scenarios built from our published ranges, not real customers.

A family SUV with two child seats and a beach habit. The owner wants the inside properly cleaned and the paint protected from sun. A Deluxe Detail sits within $375 to $575, depending on size and how stained the carpets are. Adding Fabric Guard on, say, five cloth seats is 5 × $25 = $125, and an underbody wash is another $50. The total sits inside the range of roughly $550 to $750 for the lot, before any paint work.

A three-year-old ute with faded paint that the owner plans to keep. Here the money is better spent on protection. A Revival Detail ($575 to $775) resets the car. If the paint is in good enough shape, the Ultimate Protection Package ($1,500 to $2,200) is a better fit, and we will tell you at inspection which of the two is justified rather than sell you the larger one.

Perspective: why we price by range, not by flat rate

We get asked for a single number all the time, and we understand why. But a flat price on a detail usually means one of two things: the job is rushed to fit the price, or the extras appear later. We would rather publish an honest range and explain what pushes you to the top or bottom of it.

Our view is that most Coast cars do not need the most expensive package. They need the right one. A daily driver parked outside at Maroochydore takes UV, salt air and humidity every day, and what protects it best is a clean surface, a decent sealant or coating and regular washing. The Senior describes intense sun, salty air, humidity and unpredictable weather as the main threats to vehicles here, and that matches what we see on the paint and trims we work on.

That is also why we work on site. The car stays at your home, office or a quiet spot near the beach, and you avoid a drop-off and a day without it. We use eco-friendly products, we apply ceramic coatings as certified applicators, and we back our work with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

How often to detail on the Sunshine Coast

There are two rhythms: washing and detailing.

Washing. RACQ advises washing at least once a fortnight, because dust and debris can damage paint and cause rust. In coastal air with salt and humidity, that is a minimum. If you wash at home between appointments, rinse the underbody after beach driving. Some owners notice brakes feeling sticky after a wash on damp days, and this explanation of why brakes can stick after a car wash is worth reading so you know when it is normal and when to get them checked.

Full detail. For most Coast drivers, a full detail once or twice a year keeps the interior fresh and the paint in good shape. Book more often if:

  • you park outdoors all day in full sun,
  • you drive on the beach or live close to the water,
  • you carry pets, kids or sports gear regularly, or
  • the car is a lease or a trade-in candidate.

Protected cars. A coated car still needs maintenance. Our ceramic coating lifespan guide explains the inspect, wash and reapply routine. If you want to spread the cost, ask about our maintenance plans.

When is the best time to book

The Coast’s weather decides the timing more than the calendar does. Summer brings heavy rain and intense UV, and the Bureau of Meteorology’s local forecasts regularly show UV Index readings in the extreme range alongside high chances of rain. That has two practical consequences.

  1. Protect before the harshest sun. Spring is a sensible time to put sealant or a coating on, so the paint is shielded going into summer.
  2. Detail after the wet. Rain-spotted paint, damp carpets and mud in the footwells are easier to fix once things dry out. Mobile work does depend on conditions, so we reschedule if the weather is against us.

Book ahead around school holidays, long weekends and before you sell. Our guide to protecting paint lists the steps worth doing in the months before summer.

Is professional detailing worth the money?

Sometimes it is and sometimes it is not, and it is more useful to be honest about which.

It is usually worth it when:

  • the paint is dull, swirled or oxidised and you want to keep the car,
  • you want lasting protection and have not got the time or space to apply it properly,
  • the interior has stains, pet hair or odours that ordinary vacuuming cannot shift,
  • you are selling and want the car to present well.

It is less worth it when:

  • the car is old and you plan to replace it soon, in which case a basic clean may be enough,
  • you only need a quick tidy, where a wash and vacuum will do, or
  • the damage is deeper than the clear coat, since polishing cannot fix that.

A professional detail also saves your own time. A thorough job takes hours, plus the tools, products and space that most people do not have. If you are weighing the convenience side, our pages on why mobile detailing suits busy Aussies and mobile detailing for busy families cover it.

How to compare quotes

A lower price is not always a better deal, and a higher one is not always better work. When you compare quotes from any provider, ask:

  1. What exactly is included? Does the interior price include seat and carpet extraction, or just a vacuum?
  2. Is paint correction included, and how many stages? Some coating quotes include none.
  3. What product is being applied? Ask for the product name and how long it is rated to last.
  4. Is the price for your vehicle size? A “from” price is usually for the smallest car.
  5. Are there extras later? We quote all-inclusive, with no hidden additions.
  6. What happens if you are not happy? We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Take photos of the car before and after, and ask to see the paint under proper light before and after any polishing.

FAQ

How much does a car detail cost on the Sunshine Coast?

It depends on the package and the vehicle. Our mobile Deluxe Detail runs from $375 to $575 and our Revival Detail from $575 to $775. Add-ons such as Fabric Guard ($25 per seat) and an underbody wash ($50) can be added on the day.

How much does ceramic coating cost?

We quote ceramic coatings individually because preparation depends on the paint’s condition and the vehicle size. Our Ultimate Protection Package, which is our all-inclusive protection option, is $1,500 to $2,200. Contact us with your car’s details for an exact figure.

How often should I get my car detailed?

Wash at least once a fortnight, as RACQ advises. A full detail once or twice a year suits most Sunshine Coast cars. Book sooner if you park in direct sun, drive on the beach or carry pets and children.

Is a mobile detail as good as a workshop detail?

For most work, yes. We bring the equipment and products to your home, office or a spot near the beach, and the quality comes from the preparation and the products, not the building. For some jobs we will tell you if conditions such as rain or wind make a different time better.

Does the price include everything?

Our packages are quoted all-inclusive, with no hidden extras once we have agreed the scope. Extra work found along the way, such as heavy odour or severe paint damage, is discussed with you before it is added.
